The lineup for Port Huron’s Rockin’ the Rivers has been announced.
The free concert series that takes place every Thursday in August at Kiefer Park, north of the Municipal Office Center at 100 McMorran Blvd., will headline four main acts.
Bands scheduled to perform include:
• Aug. 6: Motortown All-Stars, is a four-person band that plays Motown music accompanied by flashy costumes and dancing.
• Aug. 13: Your Generation In Concert featuring 50 Amp Fuse, which covers six decades of American and British pop and rock music.
• Aug. 20: 80s Inc., a tribute band that plays hits from the hairband decade, ranging from Whitesnake to A Flock of Seagulls.
• Aug. 27: Highwaymen Live Tribute, which features a trio Wayland Jennings, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash impersonators.
Rockin’ the Rivers is entering its seventh year and gets thousands in attendance, Toni George at the city recreation department said.
“We average 3,000 to 5,000 attendees a night,” she said. “They spill into the streets and the lawns. It’s pretty packed and is a wonderful venue for this event. It’s amazing to sit and see some of the freighters go by and shine their lights at you.”
The family event is free to the public and begins at 6 p.m. with an opening act before the main show starts at 7 p.m.
There will be inflatable toys and bounce houses for children to enjoy. In addition to food and beverage vendors, George said the beer tent will be returning.
“We are looking for additional sponsors,” she said. “We could always use more support.”
Advia Credit Union, Three Olives Vodka, Earl Smith Distributing, Cheap Charlie’s Restaurant and the Port Huron Parks and Rec Department are the main sponsors for the event.
Residents and other businesses interested in sponsoring Rockin’ the Rivers can contact the parks and recreation department at (810) 984-9760 or email George at email@example.com.
