BENTON TOWNSHIP — The newly renovated Best Western Hotel in Benton Township has reopened.
Renovations began 14 months ago, closing the hotel at 1592 Mall Drive to potential travelers for the remodeling phase.
With 98 rooms, which includes two presidential suites, the hotel has an indoor/outdoor pool and a fully remodeled fitness room.
Clint Milewski, who has been the general manager at the hotel for seven months, said the year-long construction process was a complete overhaul, which included a new lobby.
“The changes we made were very drastic, but drastic in a good way,” he said. “Items from the faucets to the carpeting were upgraded. We took a building that was constructed in 1988, and we’ve been able to modernize it to make it fit more to our time.”
Before renovations began, the hotel was a Courtyard by Marriott. However, Milewski said they chose to model the hotel after Best Western’s brand because there wasn’t one in the area.
“There used to be one years ago, but we thought it was time to bring it back because corporate announced plans on upgrading to compete with the Hiltons and the Hamptons,” Milewski said. “We wanted to be the first in the area to offer what the new Best Western brand is bringing.”
Just off the I-94 bypass near the Pipestone Road exit, the hotel is along the intersection closest to Best Buy and Goodwill in Benton Township.
Milewski said the grand opening will be this spring, which will allow residents to come visit and see what has changed.
Best Western is now taking room reservations and can be contacted by calling 925-3000 or in person by visiting 1592 Mall Drive.
